Fall in the South finally hits in October. August is such a sweltering, sticky mess the day September hits it feels like we should whip out our sweaters, boots, and Pumpkin Spice Lattes. But unfortunately, it just doesn’t work like that down here. Now I must say here in North Carolina I truly think we have the best four-season weather in the country. Further south is just too warm and no snow, and into Virginia, it’s too much snow! In New England, it’s six months winter, and out west you just don’t have the greenery we have and the spectacular leaf change, especially along the Blueridge Parkway. But sweater weather REALLY doesn’t hit until October around here. We did get a nice break for about a week in early September, but then two weeks in the 80’s and 90’s 🙁 Speaking of sweaters, I’m obsessed with Target sweaters and cardigans. I think cardigans are the ultimate in mom fashion, as they can be layered with jeans, skirts, and yoga pants and when the weather is still a bit back and forth it’s nice to be able to rip it off when it ends up hitting 80 degrees after being 46 in the morning. I love this cardigan for its length, pockets, and color selection!
And I stocked up on toddler sweatshirts for Chewy by Cat and Jack for only $6!!!!! And this super cute Beastie Boys shirt. Can y’all tell I LOVE Target 🙂
Pumpkin Patches, Festivals, and Football
After hiding in the AC all summer I’m antsy to get outside, especially with a VERY active two-year-old! We live in a historic neighborhood near downtown. There are endless festivities both downtown and nearby in our city park. Our downtown is still up and coming and not much activity, but the town really does know how to party when it comes to both old and new festivals. We’re even lucky enough to walk and bike to get to them in such beautiful weather and tree-lined streets. There’s a really fun pumpkin patch about 15 minutes from us out in the country. We took Chewy last year when he was a year old and it was SO. MUCH. FUN. We hope to go again soon once we find the time!
Football is really big in our house. Not by me, but my husband and now Chewy is a fan. He runs around and cheers when daddy does. Luckily, I work all day on Sundays and don’t have to see a single game…on Sunday’s anyways. My husband also makes it to a lot of the NC State home games, his alma mater. I don’t mind a bit of football here and there because it is a bit sentimental growing up with my dad watching it, AND of course associating it with Fall. I was also in high school marching band and made it to every Friday night football game. I still don’t understand all the rules, but those were some fun times! Here’s a cute NC State toddler jersey. Chewy of course has a couple to cheer on his team.
